Universal Secondary Free School Meals

Dear Parents and Carers,

George Green's School is excited to announce a forthcoming enhancement to our school's services. Universal Secondary Free School Meals are on their way! Our school is very proud to be part of the Council’s effort to improve the life chances of young people in the borough.

Due to the complexities of providing additional catering outlets at George Green's School, the Local Authority had outlined a January 2024 start date for our service.  We've worked really hard over the summer and are delighted to be able to bring this date forward to Monday 25 September 2023.

Whilst we were unable to start on the first day of term, the change of start date will allow us to ensure a smooth transition and provide a better quality of service to our students.  We've been holding pop-up events in September for students to come and try our food.  We are committed to offering nutritious and delicious meals that meet the dietary needs of our students, and we want to ensure our launch is a success.  

Starting Monday 25 September 2023, all students up to and including Year 11 at George Green's School will have access to Universal Secondary Free School Meals, which means that every child will be able to have a balanced meal during the school day without cost to parents/carers.  Any additional items purchased will need to be paid for.  This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to support the well-being and academic success of our students.
