Safer Internet Day at GGS
Today, 11th February 2025, we join schools worldwide in celebrating Safer Internet Day, a global event promoting the safe, responsible, and positive use of digital technology. This year’s theme, “Inspiring Change: Making the Internet a Safer Place,” encourages us to take action in creating a safer online world.
Last week, students from Years 7 to 13 attended assemblies exploring key online risks, including cyberbullying, scams, privacy breaches, and fake news. They learned practical ways to protect themselves, such as using strong passwords, thinking before posting, and adjusting privacy settings. The sessions also highlighted the power of kindness online—encouraging students to be respectful, stand up against cyberbullying, and support friends who may be struggling.
Through interactive discussions and quizzes, students developed their ability to spot fake news, recognise online scams, and take steps to protect their personal information. The assemblies reinforced the importance of thinking critically and reporting harmful content to trusted adults or platforms when something goes wrong.
At George Green’s, we are committed to empowering our students with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world safely. Let’s continue working together to make the internet a safer and more positive space for everyone.
